Today is the last day of November! And one of my last-day-of-the-month routines for THIS particular year is to check my progress on the book I planned to finish writing this month, see what more needs to be done, check my notes for this book and determine if I can indeed write the last of the book today! I was ready to do just that for the poetry book I have been working on this month – and everything toppled to the ground when I pulled out my original note for this book. When I got the idea for this book, I wrote it down on a sheet of paper. That paper has been in my writing notebook all month. But I never really consulted it. I gave it a quick glance, got the theme “Deaf,” and went to work. Then today I read it more thoroughly and, well, it just threw me off track. Because I saw my original notes and realized that I wasn’t writing the book I originally planned to write! The poems I wanted to write were experimental poems. Something a little bit different from the norm. The poems I have been writing are NOT experimental! Most of them are free verse, yes, but they’re pretty much your standard fare for poetry. So I saw my notes and suddenly wanted to write THOSE kinds of poems for this book! Oh, but wait, I already wrote these other poems for the book. They’re not experimental, but they’re not bad, either. (Well, that’s what I think, anyway!) And they do have some good messages coming from a deaf person to the hearing world. But I couldn’t really decide which type of book to make THIS particular poetry book. I thought about it a lot, compared it to similar books already out there, and thought on it some more. I even tried writing some of the poems in that experimental form. I STILL couldn’t decide! So I will leave this one unfinished until I can decide which route to take with it. If anything, maybe I’ll just combine it. I don’t think that will hurt anything.

Aside from that, I also did some more writing in GHOST Group 7 today.

LATER: Hours after I posted that, I wrote up a storm. Lots of poems of the experimental type. I have decided to combine both books. The poems will be BOTH traditional and experimental. That said, it's done. Yay!

My writing schedule was messed up so I made some changes today. Now, hopefully, it will work out better this week and I can get more things done with more books.

Received a possible cover image for my novel today. I liked it a lot. Gave the okay to use it. Will share on my writing blog soon.

Worked on novel revisions today.

Today I received images from my publisher for possible use on my novel’s cover. We went over them and I STILL couldn’t decide between two of a certain image that I liked. It was suggested to me that I ask my kids to pick so I did. They both selected one image so that’s the one that was chosen! I am just glad I did not have as much trouble with the character image.

Worked on novel revisions.

Wrote some poems for the poetry book.

Did some research for the Supernatural book. I have decided that there is enough material in this show for this kind of book but I will finish out the year gathering information for it before I put together my book proposal.

Yesterday, I worked on revision requests for a novel I have coming out soon. I finished that up and sent it back to my publisher. Then I realized I forgot to check for typo and spacing hiccups that tend to slip in at this point during the edits and I did that this morning then sent it to her AGAIN, apologizing for the mistake and politely requesting that she use THAT file instead. Fortunately, she didn’t bite my head off! (Thanks, Denise!) So that is done and I got the final file back today to review before it goes to the printer. I am excited about this novel's forthcoming publication!

Also, I recently decided that it was time to start writing my story about being a burn survivor. I decided on a title for this book and wrote down ideas for chapters today. I had 18 so far! I guess I have a lot to say about being a burn survivor. So I have that foundation in place to get started writing THAT book.

I updated some other files as well and stuck them into my writing notebook. I have a new strategy for working on books and finishing things up for the remainder of the year! So I’ll be sticking to THAT plan. And I don’t have a fiction book that I am working on right now – until I remembered that I’d only written ONE page for GHOST Group 7! Good grief! It’s crazy because I went on to write Books 8-12. And I didn’t even finish writing the 7th book first? Ugh!! Well, I am going to work on finish writing GHOST Group 7 for the rest of the year, while working on the other books I have slated for the remainder of the year. Then, when that's done, in 2018, I will start the revision process for Books 5-12. I plan to submit Book 5 in January.
